Without proper eyelid hygiene, oil, debris and other contaminants can accumulate on you eyelids and eyelashes resulting in irritation which may develop into more serious conditions. Relieve symptoms and prevent them from progressing by adopting a complete eyelid regimen.

Meibomian glands are oil-producing glands located in both the upper and lower eyelids. This oil slowly releases onto the surface of the eye creating the outermost layer of the tear film. Meibomian gland dysfunction develops when the meibomian glands become inflamed and a thick paste-like substance is secreted or no oil is produced at all. This lack of oil on the tear film causes the middle aqueous layer to evaporate resulting in a condition called evaporative dry eye. Severe blockage can also lead to swollen, enlarged glands (a cyst) or even infection.
